Locations Fix - for central London unit bases

Posted on 15th July 2014 by FilmFixer

Welcome to FilmFixer’s update on our inspirational locations portfolio.

Central London and its seminal film locations: that’s where the director wants to be. It’s also jammed, impossible to park, oh – and you need space for 80 vehicles? Unit basing can be the hardest search for a location manager. But we are here to help.

Cardington Street

Slap bang in the centre, close to Soho, Westminster and Camden’s famous markets, Cardington Street runs beside Euston Station.

It’s long and wide – and has 50 parking bays. This is an an ideal unit base for access to key central London locations.

Contact us well ahead of your shoot, as Camden Council asks for notice to suspend these bays, and it’s a very popular base.

Wharf Road

This large, riverside unit base is ideally located if you’re filming in Islington, Camden or Hackney.

Tucked away near City Basin, this self-contained space combines wasteland with riverside views. It has been extended especially to accommodate larger units and has recently been used by several large feature films and prominent TV dramas.

This unit base includes its own water supply, and despite looking quite desolate, there are fast food restaurants and takeaways nearby.

Northampton Road

This central gem provides a whopping 80 bays along with underground parking nearby at Michael Cliffe House for a further 80 crew cars.

Spa Fields Park next door is a welcome refuge, and there are plenty of cafés and shops nearby.

But again, do contact us well ahead of filming, as Islington Council seeks 10 working days’ notice to suspend these bays.

Toys R Us in Croydon

Filming to the south and trying to steer clear of London altogether?

Stay away from the centre and consider this option just off Purley Way.

This unit base has great links to the city and the South Downs – it’s just off the A232 and it’s only 15 minutes from Bromley.
